London-Paris Cycle Tour 2007

“The professional event for amateurs”
The London-Paris Cycle Tour is a unique 3 day “Tour de France” style
endurance event for amateur and cyclosportif riders. The L2P is almost 600
km in length over three days. The route starts in Kingston (Hampton Wick) on
the outskirts of London, UK and then travels southwards through the North
and South Downs to Portsmouth. The riders then cross the channel on
overnight ferry to St Malo, France. Day 2 is from St Malo to Alencon, and
Day 3 from Alencon to Versailles, Paris. An informal prize giving is held
with the following day a rest day. The riders return to London on Eurostar.
The event attracts riders from all over the world and is known for its
friendly, sociable atmosphere. The Tour includes rolling road closures in
France, support vehicles, staff and mechanics allowing riders to concentrate
on cycling. The L2P takes place from 28 June – 1 July 2007.
The London-Paris Cycle Tour announced that one of the greatest professional
riders ever, Sean Kelly will be riding the 2007 event. Sean was one of the
most dominant and successful cyclists of the 1980s and he is regarded as one
of the finest Classics riders of all time. His victories include a Grand
Tour victory and an unprecedented 7 successive wins in the Paris-Nice stage
race.

The route consists of 3 riding stages and a day off in Paris. Final times and distances will be confirmed.

28th June 2007 - Stage 1: London to Portsmouth (145km)
Depart Hampton Court Golf Club at Hampton Wick (Kingston) . For L2P 2007 we are planning on leaving earlier – plan on being at the Golf Club before 07:00. Lunch in Grayshott. Expect to arrive in Portsmouth well before 18:00. Board the ferry for St Malo at 19:30. Meet up with the other riders in the Buffet area for dinner. Your accommodation will be a 3 berth cabin. The ferry will arrive into St Malo at 07.40 the following morning.

29th June 2007 - Stage 2: St Malo - Alençon (~205km)
Breakfast near the ferry port. We expect to arrive into Alencon at approximately 18:00. Rooms will be on a twin share basis.

30th June 2007 - Stage 3: Alençon – Versailles, Paris (~225km)
Depart Alencon early to arrive in Versailles around 16:30. There will be an informal prize giving at 19:00.
1st July 2007 - Versailles - Paris - London
Leisurely start to the day! Lunch in Paris (at your own cost) before taking the Eurostar back to London Waterloo. Departure time 15:10. The support team will meet you at the Union Jack Club next to London Waterloo.
