Win
for Team Kinesis's pete Williams in Belgium
20 year old Pete Williams picked up a fine victory
over the weekend in Belgium. From a
strong field, he broke away with a unibet rider with 20km
to go and the 2 stayed away to the finish where
Williams got the better in the uphill sprint.
Win Number 2 for pete
williams
Following his win the previous
week, Pete continued his good form taking the race on the
Belgian coast at Blackenberg in fine style, breaking away
on his own in last 6 miles, once again beating a strong field
which included the Belgian elite champion.

The Ribble Valley CRC Fylde road race
on Sunday Junior rider Johnny McEvoy and Pete Williams made
it into the race winning break which went on the first of
the 7lap 82km race. The six man move contained Recycling.co.uk
trio Newton, Briggs and Diggle as well as 100% me’s
Alex Dowsett. The group set about gaining an advantage over
the main field and with 2 laps remaining the attacking started.
Tom Diggle was the first to find the speed too much and dropped
off the break. With continual attacking from the group, the
Kinesis duo rode well to cover the moves and then McEvoy took
the initiative with around 1km to go and jumped the group
which hesitated just long enough for McEvoy to hold on for
the line. Dowsett took the sprint from Newton for 2nd with
Pete Williams in 4th.

Landis returns positive B sample
Floyd Landis Landis faces an uncertain future
Floyd Landis is set to lose his Tour de France title and faces
a two-year ban after returning a positive B sample for excessive
levels of testosterone.
The American's Phonak team dismissed Landis on Saturday when
it was confirmed he produced levels more than twice the legal
limit after stage 17.
Landis, 30, has said the high levels detected were a "natural
occurrence".
Spaniard Oscar Pereiro will be declared the winner of the
Tour de France if Landis is stripped of the title.
Pereiro was second overall behind Landis in the race, which
finished in Paris on 23 July, and would become the first Spaniard
to win the Tour since Miguel Indurain in 1995.
LANDIS
1992: Junior National Mountain Bike champion
1993: US National Mountain Bike champion
1995: Moves to California
1998: Switches to road racing
1999: Joins Mercury pro team
2000: Wins Tour du Poitou-Charentes
2002: Joins US Postal, races in first Tour de France
2003, Jan: Breaks hip in crash
2003, July: Helps Armstrong win fourth Tour de France
2004: Wins Tour d'Algarve
2005: Joins Phonak, finishes ninth in Tour de France
Mar 2006: Wins Paris-Nice
23 July: Wins Tour de France
27 July: Tests positive for testosterone
The official decision to strip Landis of the victory rests
with the International Cycling Union (UCI), but Tour de France
director Christian Prudhomme said: "It goes without saying
that for us Floyd Landis is no longer the winner of the 2006
Tour de France."
Landis said in a statement: "I have never taken any banned
substance, including testosterone.
"I was the strongest man at the Tour de France, and that
is why I am the champion.
"I will fight these charges with the same determination
and intensity that I bring to my training and racing.
"It is now my goal to clear my name and restore what
I worked so hard to achieve."
His lawyer Howard Jacobs added: "In consultation with
some of the leading medical and scientific experts, we will
prove that Floyd Landis's victory in the 2006 Tour de France
was not aided in any respect by the use of any banned substances."
A Phonak statement said: "Landis will be dismissed without
notice for violating the teams internal Code of Ethics.
"Landis will continue to have legal options to contest
the findings. However, this will be his personal affair and
the Phonak team will no longer be involved in that."
We will explain to the world why this is not a doping case
Floyd Landis speaking last week
The analysis of Landis' B sample took place at France's national
laboratory at Chatenay-Malabry in the presence of the American's
Spanish lawyer, Jose Maria Buxeda, and experts from the United
States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) and the UCI.

Wiggins
on target for Tour
Bradley
Wiggins believes he is in the form of his life and remains
on target to pick up the Tour de France's prestigious yellow
jersey in July.
The 25-year-old is among the favourites to win the Tour prologue
on 1 July
He told BBC Sport: "The start to my season couldn't have
gone any better.
"The difference between winning the yellow jersey and
ending fifth will be seconds but, as it stands, I'm a match
for any of the top time triallers."
The Cofidis rider faces major competition in his bid to win
the 7km Tour opener in Strasbourg from, among others, countryman
David Millar, who will be competing in his first road race
since serving his two-year drug ban.
Millar already has past experience of prologue success and
donning the yellow jersey, which Wiggins confessed would be
useful to learn from.
"Sadly I'll be one of Dave's rivals so I don't think
he's going to be giving me loads of advice about how to beat
him!" said Wiggins. "That said, we've chatted about
the Tour opener.
"It's great for British cycling especially with the Tour
starting in London next year. That'll give it all the hype
needed - especially if we manage a Brit one-two in Strasbourg.
"It's unprecedented for British cycling and one can only
hope it launches a fresh generation of world-class riders
coming through the ranks."
While the Olympic champion - he won gold on the track in Athens
- admits he is a strong candidate for early Tour glory, he
has ruled out being the next Lance Armstrong or competing
for overall honours in the race.
But in his Tour preparation so far this season, Wiggins has
ridden Paris-Nice and Paris-Roubaix.
In the former - his season opener - he was seventh in the
prologue and just five seconds off the pace, while he was
comfortably in the top 50 of the notoriously tough Paris-Roubaix.
"I could have gone with the eventual winners at Paris-Roubaix,"
he added, "but I thought 'what's the point in taking
the risk?' when it wasn't one of my season goals. I decided
to save myself for the Tour."

Connor
`proffitts` from Andy`s stage victory
Stage 5
Ballymena`s Ryan Connor held on to take his second P&O
Irish Sea Tour of the North win in Dundonald today, but the
final stage was not without its drama, as at one stage Connor
had lost the race leaders Yellow Jersey on the tough County
Down stage.
A group of around two dozen moved clear on the Sleive Croob
climb, where james Dobbin was first over the top, a feat he
repeated at Windy gap and Castlewellan to secure overall victory
in the AA sponsored competition.
At Clough with 30 miles remaining a group of 7 riders had
moved clear, building up a lead of over two minutes, making
Peter Williams (Kinesis UK) leader on the road. All the favourites,
Connor, Evans and Irvine were behind and gave chase closing
the gap in the closing miles.
Three riders clipped off the front in the run in, former British
Under 23 Champion Neil Swithenbank, Jonathan Dempsey and 1998
race winner Andy Proffitt.
It was in Connors interests to let the three stay away and
take the time bonuses, although he could not afford to give
them too much freedom as Dempsey was only 54 seconds down
overall.
It all worked to Connors favour, with Proffitt taking the
flag at Dundonald ahead of Swithenbank and Dempsey, with stage
4 winner Fraser Duncan leading the chasers in at 21 seconds.
Connor, Evans and Irvine were among the chasers, although
with Proffitts time bouns it moved him in to equal second
overall a mere 10 seconds off race winner Connor, who repeated
his 2004 win, albeit with a lesser margin.
All in all the final stage lived up to his expectations, with
Connor savouring his second race win before heading back to
Europe for the remainder of the season.

Stage 4
Leading in the remains of a 7-man break that had been away
for most of the stage, Fraser Duncan (Northern CC) took the
honours at Bangor on Sunday afternoon. The breakaway escaped
early in the stage, and their lead peaked at 2min 30 seconds
at Greyabbey with 20 miles remaining. By the only King of
the Hills climb at Newtownards, that lead was down to 1 min
30. In the closing miles the bunch awakened, and on the line
were breathing down the necks of the leaders, with Duncan
